If you haven’t seen one of the movies on this list, go ahead and add to your watchlist for this weekend!

Steel Magnolias

Um, hello! Dolly Parton? Need we say more?

“I would rather have 30 minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special.”

Southern Setting: Chinquapin Parish, LA

The Help

You can’t help but fall in love with Miss Skeeter!

“See courage isn’t about being brave. Courage is daring to do what is right despite the weakness of our flesh.”

Southern Setting: Jackson, MS

Hope Floats

Break out the tissues for this one- we love this sweet romance! Also, could Birdee be a cuter name?

“Beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad, but it is the middle that counts the most.”

Southern Setting: Smithville, Texas

Driving Miss Daisy

Morgan Freeman’s character is so endearing in this movie. You can’t help but love this friendship!

“You’re my best friend, Hoke.”

Southern Setting: Atlanta, GA

The Notebook

Grab your tissues and be prepared for the sweetest love story that we all can’t help but long for!

“I want all of you forever, everyday.”

Southern Setting: Seabrook, SC

Father of the Bride

Every little girl dreams of her wedding day and every daddy dreads it! This movie definitely pulls on your heartstrings and we love Steve Martin, always.

“I used to think a wedding was a simple affair. Boy and girl meet, they fall in love, he buys a ring, she buys a dress, they say I do. I was wrong. That’s getting married. A wedding is an entirely different proposition”

Not So Southern Setting: This movie takes place in CA, but we had to add it to the list!

The Big Easy

This thriller romance is sure to spice up date night with a creole flair!

“You’re a cop for God’s sake! You’re supposed to uphold the law!”

Southern Setting: New Orleans, LA

9 to 5

Another classic Dolly Parton movie all about sticking it to the man! Let’s go girls!

“If you ever say another word about me or make another indecent proposal, I'm gonna get that gun of mine... And I'm gonna change you from a rooster to a hen with one shot!”

Not So Southern Setting: Another California movie, but Dolly Parton is in it so it counts as Southern, right?

Sweet Home Alabama

Reese is self proclaimed “whiskey in a teacup” and this movie proves it! This movie is a Southern girl’s classic romcom and we can’t get enough of “felony Melanie.”

“"You expect me to tell you look good? What, did they run out of soap at the Piggly Wiggly since I left?"

Southern Setting: Greenville, AL

Friday Night Lights

Every Southern girl loves football (maybe just for the tailgates) and this movie does not disappoint!

“Can you live in that moment as best you can, with clear eyes, and love in your heart, with joy in your heart? If you can do that gentleman - you're perfect!”

Southern Setting: Dillon, TX

Walk the Line

Another classic Reese Witherspoon movie all about Johnny and June. This movie will break your heart and put it back together!

“I'm asking you to marry me. I love you, June. Now I know I said and done a lotta things, that I hurt you, but I promise, I'll never do that again.”

Southern Setting: Memphis, TN

Something to Talk About

Hell hath no fury like a Southern woman scorned! Clearly we can’t get enough of Dennis Quaid and Julia Roberts is always a romcom go-to.

“And I just don't have time for the nervous breakdown I deserve, so please, don't ask me to stop and think.”

Southern Setting: Beaufort, SC
